Triffle

the view from above... didn't capture it from side...
interested to know how to make it?? its actually quite simple (for those who hates baking)... but the process is quite a hassle as it involves several stages.... so, patience is needed while doing this... ok, lets start..
1 - base - i usually use swiss roll for the base... reason being; its soft, sweet & the tase can blend in with the others. But, do be careful what swiss roll u used... like mocha/choc swiss roll not suitable as the taste is strong and doesn't fit in well. Better ones will be pandan, orange or just plain vanilla...
2 - mixed fruit & nata d'coco - spread this over the swiss roll tadi evenly... liquid from mixed fruit tu (syrup) tu jgn buang... instead use it again masa buat jelly..
3 - jello - see, i use the word "jello" instead of jelly... why? coz i'm referrring to the soft jelly and not the hard agar2 tu... ok, if u can't get what i mean... imagine KFC jelly icecream tu... hah!!! yg tu la... so, buat jelly ni tak boleh pakai agar2... but kena beli serbuk jelly lembik tuh... just read instruction how to make it... and don't forget to add in the syrup from above into the mixture masa masak jelly tu. Dah siap, pour over mixed fruit tadi... make sure it covers the mixed fruit... i usually like to use yg strawberry flavor coz of the taste & the vibrant colour... hv to remember, when doing triffle... the diff colour between one layer and another is important.. so that it look more SCRUMPTIOUS!!!! heh...
4 - custard - ok, this is the leceh part... for me la... i usually use Bird Custard Powder and susu cair Ideal... 1 tin of Ideal, pour into a saucepan... leave behind a bit of the milk to add in 2-3 tbs custard powder & 2 tbsp sugar... mix well and when the milk is almost boiling, put in the mixture and stir all the time... sampai jadi custard... make sure to stir all the time sbb if not nanti dia melekat and hangus... bila dah pekat tutup api and let it cool a bit... but dont stop stirring... coz nak buang bubble2 udara... dah siap, pour on top of jelly tadi and spread evenly la.. cool it in the fridge
5 - hiasan - spread over whipped cream on top of custard tadi... then hias la with fruits (strawberry, kiwi, etc) or canned mixed fruit, peaches, etc... hias je la with anything based on what u like... cool it and serve it cold.. for best results :)
TADA.... finish already... u now hv urself one DELICIOUS triffle that could melt any heart that eats it...

Paddington House of Pancakes

if ur a pancake lover... u'll definitely LOVE this place.... well, we found the shop by accident actually... after futsal practice, me & tini drop by Hartamas Square tunggu Mahadzir... not knowing what to do... pusing2 then suddenly saw this shop... first impression... tgk nama kedai "Paddington House of Pancakes".... interesting.... coz both of us are crazy bout pancakes.... its quite late at nite already, so only few occupied tables... quite nice ambience...

menu dia... mak datuk... punya la tebal... siap ada section2 lagi... as the name of the shop... it sells pancakes.. everything is abt pancakes... recepis fr different countries... there's pannekoeks, dollar pancakes, galettes, poffetjes, blinis... and some more weird names... whatever its called... its pancake in our layman terms... it took us more than 15 mins scrutinising the menu... trying to decide what to order... there's pancake with steak, fish, pasta... savoury ones, small, tiny, big ones... just name it, they hv it... basically whatever u're having... its with pancakes...

at last after going back and forth the menu, we decide to share American stacks ... can't remember what its called.... it just sounds so delicious... pancakes with strawberry, vanilla ice cream, nuts, almonds, butterscotch & mapple syrup.... it looks delicious and taste delicious.... and they are very generous with the mapple syrup... so mmg la... pour all over la.... "heavenly sinful"... hehehe.... there goes my diet... enjoyed every bite of it.... sedapsssssssss sgt..... :)

on the price side, the foods are bit pricey... but its totally sumthin out of ordinary and worth trying out... besides hartamas square, they also have another branch at The Curve...

Black pepper sauce

ok... this will be my 1st entry for recipe... "Black Pepper Sauce"

my younger bro yg tgh cuti & melepak kat rumah ni byk la songelnya... nak mkn fries with black pepper sauce... bukan nak mkn ngan chilli sos ke.. tomato sos ke... so, terpaksalah buat... ok, ingredients.... btw, i'm not giving so detail recipe as in how much coz i pun main agak2 jer...

minced beef (tastier than chicken) for the stock
shallots and garlic
ground black pepper (ni tumbuk sendiri... jgn beli yg halus2 tu, nanti tak rasa)
kicap (sket jer for colouring)
a bit of butter
2 tbspoons of flour
cream

ok... cara-caranya:

1) rebus minced beef + onions until beef tu masak. Masuk black pepper yg dah tumbuk tu. Masak sampai dia pekat and jadi beef stock. Alternatively, boleh pakai beef stock... tp kurang la rasa dia kan. Put in soy sauce just to make the colour more interesting.

2) Seperately, melt the butter and add in flour. Kacau2 sampai butter and flour tu dah jadi cam likat2 sket. Make sure kacau selalu, so that tak hangit. Masukkan beef stock tadi and kacau2 lagi until all are blend together.

3) The gravy akan jadi pekat sket bcoz of the flour. Now, when everything's done need to blend (sbb tak nak ada chunk of meat in the gravy plus its gonna taste better with the meat blended). Lepas blend, masak again the gravy and add in cream. This is to add in more calories (so for those on diet, boleh replace dgn susu) and also make it thicken. But, be careful not to put too much. When its hot it may not look thick, so just put cukup2 jer la. Maybe dalam 2-3 tbs jer. Oh ya... jgn lupa, salt and sugar secukup rasa.

Thats it!! U're done... its so easy actually... so, lepas ni kalau nak grill lamb, steak or anything... boleh la buat sauce sendiri... u can even modify this recipe to make mushroom sauce etc.... just change the beef to chicken and add in button mushroom... Walla!!! u got urself ur homemade mushroom sauce....

happy mother's day!!!



As it is Mother's Day... lots of restaurants and hotels have their own event in celebrating it. We had a get-together lunch... my aunts, my mum and myself kat Summer Palace, Marriott Putrajaya... my uncle's treat...

they are famous for their dimsum buffet, Szechuan and Cantonese cooking... my kid cuz mmg suka mkn kat situ... during lunch time they have the "all-u-can-eat" dimsum buffet... those are really good... the steam ones... yg fried... and i looovvveee their "chee cheong fun"... argh!!! sedappssss....



so, basically we had lotss and lotts of dimsum... dunno what u're having since it keep changing and they keep on replacing... we also had roast chicken, fried rice (2 versions of them)... and yee mee.... and baby kailan... and for dessert the ever delicious egg tart... its still hot; the custard melt in ur mouth when u eat it....



and bcoz its Mother's Day... all mother were presented with a red carnation and one whole cheesecake to bring back... ok now... pixs, pixs and more pixs... (tak berapa byk sgt gambar coz bz makan... heh...)

testing 1,2, 3.... ok, things look good... and i manage to change the pictures too!! horray.... so, i will try and fill this up with lotss & lottsss of scromptous food recipes... with pixs of course... review on places/restaurant/mamak that i've eaten.... and other2 things pasal food... waaa, 2 blogs to maintain... u sure u can do this??? heh...
